PACE Stands for ¨Programma de Actualizacion Continua en Emergencias¨. The PACE -3 Course if the first in a series of
PACEMD ¨EM Propagaion Courses¨. The course started in San Miguel de Allende with 36 registrants. The majory of the Registrants
work for the Health Ministry which provides some support for the students. The course is directed by Mexican Emergency Medicine
Residency trained physicians who are commited to EM development in their state and in Mexico.
The course provides a highly coveted University of Guanajuato Medical School and Nursing School ¨Diplomado¨ or Certification.
In addition, some of its component can ¨stand alone¨and certificates/cards can be givien for various modules.
It is planned the the PACE-3 Modules ultimately be taught in multiple locations, allowing maximum time and location flexibility
for working nurses.
Quality emergency nurses are key to a well functioning emergency department. It is so important, in fact, that the PACEMD
Program chose to make nursing training its first priority.
The course runs the last weeked on every month for a year(except December, when in is the second to last weekend).
All PACE courses are supported by the University of Guanajuato (Medical and Nursing School), the Red Cross of the
State of Guanajuato, the Health Ministry of the State of Guanajuato, and the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
