There are many EMT Basics in Mexico with little opportunity to advance to intermediate or Paramedic levels.
The PACE -1 Course is a 100 hour Diplomado (Certificate) course developed in collaboration with the Red Cross of the
State of Guanajuato and the University of Guanajuato, which provides the Academic credentialing for the program. The program
consists of 7- 2 day sessions (on weekends) over a 6 month period starting August 19th.
The program is designed as a National Red Cross pilot project which seeks to provide training in Basic and Advanced Cardio
Respiratory Cerebral Support for both the adult and pediatric population as well as Trauma and Disaster
care. A survey and a survey of medical emergencies included and there are work shops and skill stations incorporated
to provide specific psycho-motor skills needed to advance the EMT Basic (TUM I)to near Paramedic levels.
To trainees are partially subsidized by donations to the local Red Cross.
The course has PACE quality assurance and control by Mexican and US residency trained emergency physicians.
