PACE MD

WHO WE ARE?.

PACE MD is a dynamic and socially committed organization. Our goal is to transform healthcare and well-being in Spanish-speaking communities, inspiring change agents to undertake projects that positively impact society. As part of a broader ecosystem initiated by Dr. Haywood Hall, an Ashoka fellow, we have taken on the challenge of supporting, renewing, and expanding PACE MD.

With a 20-year track record, we have been dedicated to improving emergency medical care and strengthening the chain of survival. We want to take our commitment to the next level by providing mentoring and sponsorship to impactful projects and agents of change.

We are proud to have merged forces with Red Inventiva, a renowned incubation program based in San Miguel de Allende, to further expand our mission and achieve significant social impact.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Your support will enable us to scale and expand our initiatives, creating tangible change in the communities we serve. Together, we can make a lasting difference in many people's lives.

Join PACE MD today and be part of the much-needed change!

OUR IMPACT.

01

Community-Based Training

The organization has been a pioneer in community-based training, certifying over 50,000 healthcare professionals in emergency care, primarily in Mexico. Furthermore, we have established numerous training centers in Mexico and Latin America to enhance emergency care.

02

Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care

PACE MD has developed an Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics program, which has been recognized as the "gold standard" in Mexico for the training of professional midwives. Additionally, we have expanded our work to Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama, establishing similar programs in these countries. We are recognized as a reference center for the Spanish-speaking community in this field.

03

Public Access Defibrillation as a Community Training Catalyst

We implemented the first Public Access Defibrillation Program in Latin America, specifically in the city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. This program has been instrumental in promoting community health training and has led to changes in public policies.

04

International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) activist

As active members of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine, we have effectively advocated for international emergency care. We have facilitated the inclusion of Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Cuba as full members of IFEM, thus opening up Latin America to this global organization. Our members have played significant roles in various committees, and we hosted the International Congress of Emergency Medicine in Mexico City in 2018. Additionally, we have established special interest groups in public health and the environment, as well as dedicated sections for maternal and child health, migration and refugee health, and occupational health.

05

ECHO Tele-mentoring

We introduced the ECHO Project in Mexico, a tele-mentoring platform that has facilitated the establishment of learning and practice communities in various healthcare topics. Since its implementation in 2014, we have created approximately 25 ECHO centers in Mexico.

06

We developed the MedSpanish Program

We have developed the MedSpanish program, which has trained over 700 healthcare workers from the United States in medical Spanish and cultural competency. Through online programs and immersion experiences in the cities of San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, this program focuses on the chain of survival and reinforces community-based and culturally competent healthcare. It has now been expanded to include global health projects and infrastructure development. We have obtained authorization to expand the program worldwide within the Spanish-speaking community.

07

Implementation of Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) in Mexico and SANE Programs

The organization has conducted international meetings such as the Binational Technical Meeting of the ERAS-SANE project, where experts from the United States and Mexico came together to exchange ideas, discuss, review, and compare protocols for comprehensive care of victims of sexual violence.

We have also translated, localized, and piloted the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) in Mexico, providing specialized training to nursing professionals in trauma management.

08

International Conferences

PACE MD has successfully organized multiple international conferences, including 3 Pan-American Forums on Emergencies and Global Health, the 1st International Symposium on Resuscitation by IFEM, and the Binational Technical Meeting of the ERAS-SANE project. Each of these conferences has gathered renowned multidisciplinary specialists and experts in public health.

PACE MD MAKES A DIFFERENCE

PACE MD is an innovative community emergency care training program that has made a significant impact on many lives. Training in CPR and AED usage has led to numerous lives being saved. Community healthcare workers and midwives have benefited from the "Helping Babies Breathe" course, which has helped reduce infant mortality in Chiapas. PACE MD trains the entire community to work together, and that's what makes the difference.
